ABC Request-a-Ride    and    Ride with GPS Route Planning

Request-a-Ride entry form for current members

ABC invites all members to request rides with a variety of speeds, distances, and routes. This is the intake form to do that. Your request is then automatically logged and routed to several ride coordinators who will work with you to add a safe, fun, and interesting ride to the event calendar. Unfortunately, we will not post rides requested by non-members due to insurance and liability concerns.

The member completes a variety of fields and then clicks to submit the request.

Then watch the calendar for your ride to be posted or you will be contacted if there are questions, conflicts, or recommendations to discuss before the event is posted.

You may email ride coordinators at any time or call them directly about your submission.

Thank you for requesting rides! Let's continue to have a busy calendar all year.

Leon B, is the POC for this tool.

Ride With GPS club account for route planning & navigation

 **NEW & Test**

This is our webpage that has this information under Rides/Leaders/Guests

ABC purchased a $250 "Club" Ride with GPS account on 10/14/24. We asked for a free second year and they gave it to us. There is no individual cost for our members to use it and it is for ABC members use only. It looks very useful.

Club membership benefits link and search for our club link.

Steps to gain access to the member account and learn more about it:

1) First, create a free basic account at ridewithgps.com, unless you already have a personal RWGPS account.

2) Then

a) login to the ABC website with your ABC login and password

b) click on the Members Only area on the right side of the menus

c) click on Important Documents to access the RWGPS club account registration link.

d) scroll to the bottom of the web page and click the RWGPS club registration link or copy and paste it into your browser. This              will provide membership to this account.

Only share this link with members.

e) or,  search for our club and click for access to it, which will be granted quickly.

3) Install the RWGP app on you smart phone and login to it using your RWGPS personal ID and password for later use while riding.

4) Logout and login to your personal RWGPS account on their website using a PC or tablet and the new club account will be listed under your name and icon on the their web page. It might be along the left panel or the top right of the page. Click our club account name and use the features in it for free.

180 routes created by J. Tyrrell have been migrated into the new club account to get things started  More routes can be created or migrated in. RJ Marquette is our RWGPS POC. Let RJ know if you would like to become a trainer or subject matter expert for our members of this product. Let RJ know if you would like to migrate your route library into the club account to get more features while you use those routes. The RWGPS help desk can take care of that migration.

ABC tested RWGPS club membership in 2016-2017 and again in 2021 and those accounts were not for general use while we were learning about it. Those accounts have been deleted and any routes in them have been moved to the new club account by the RWGPS help desk.

There are many help pages and club account descriptions on their website.  There are many interesting RWGPS related videos on YouTube.com. Those webpages and videos describe how to create routes and interface RWGPS to your bicycle computer and transfer routes into your computer, depending on the brand. The help links also describe how to use the smart phone app. Try using both the app and the website. There are important differences. Note that all of the route search features seem to work best using a PC, some formatting is lacking using a tablet. A big feature is that you can see where you are on a course and get turn-by-turn directions on courses that are in the club account library while using the app in your phone.

We are ready to go live with this new account 10/23/24 and a bulletin board post has been made. Please be patient while you use it and while we become familiar with all of the great features this provides. We may have an in-person orientation session during the slow winter season if we get volunteers to lead the session.

Please let us know if you spot anything that we need to add to or edit this webpage for. Enjoy our new RWGPS club account!
