The Club uses the Wild Apricot management information system website www.annapolisbicycleclub.org and smart phone app for many purposes, including registering to participate, with a high level of customer satisfaction. Everyone gets Wild Apricot with their membership.

This is and has been the way to register and receive updates and will be used for all registrations, including Tuesday and Thursday events from now on.

This is in response to customer requests from our members like you, and advice from our outside resources including League of American Bicyclists, American Specialty Insurance, our attorney at Bike Law Group, and Board discussions.

If you are going to participate in an event, including Tuesday Thursday, sign up via our Wild Apricot hosted website www.annapolisbicycleclub.org or app. It takes a few seconds and can be done from anywhere.

Specific to Tuesday Thursday, some participants communicate via an email list maintained by one member. This is not a club account. The information exchanged may be useful in some ways to some people but may not be in others. Information exchanged between participants may not be the position of the Club. Let Jim Miner know if you would like to be added to or removed from the list.

    Questions and Answers

When will this transition take place?

    • As for Tuesday Thursday, registration is now open for individual days. The transition will have no effect on our other events as it is commonplace.

Why is our Wild Apricot hosted website and app being used for Tuesday Thursday registrations now?

    • We are responding to feedback from our members and advice from our professional advisory organizations, Board discussions, and to be consistent across our activities and with our members.

Can I communicate with my friends via email, texts and calls?

    • That’s up to you and understand that those may not be Club resources, and the Club takes no position on that. Members should always communicate and treat each other with decorum and professionalism regardless of how they do it. Regardless, register participation via Wild Apricot. It only takes a moment; you’ll get status and know who else is coming. Contact Jim Miner regarding participation in the Tu Th email list.

Do I have to be on the Tuesday Thursday member-maintained email list as well as use Wild Apricot?

    • Some use and some don’t use the email list. The current email list is not a Club resource and we take no position on that. Wild Apricot is our primary source and we will keep events up to date and communicate through our system if an event is cancelled or rescheduled. Members register and unregister themselves.

How will I know if a ride is going to take place or change?

    • Event details will be updated as needed and time permitting. The reason is usually obvious and happens infrequently. That can be done easily by our admins from anywhere. If a ride is cancelled or delayed, registration may be closed and the description will include CANCELLED or DELAYED or something like that, with new time, date, etc. If you are not sure, you can always ask the ride leader. Existing registrants should receive an email from Wild Apricot that something has changed, so registering in advance is best. You can easily glance at the event for real-time status, including who is coming.

What if I can’t register occasionally using the website or my app, or it slips my mind? Can I still come? What if I registered but my plans change? What if I want to sign up but not share my name publicly?

    • Yes, we’d love to have you participate. Come as always and be sure to continue to register in the future. You can register when you get to the event or during the event. Admins have a version of the website and app and can do it for you if they want to but that’s a feature, not a requirement. It is nice for others to look forward to seeing you, especially the ride leaders.
    • If your plans change, you really don’t have to do anything. We’ll miss you and wonder if we should wait for you so unregistering or telling someone as soon as you can is a nice courtesy. No explanation is needed and it’s easy.
    • Names are only visible to other members for your privacy unless you select the option to not display your name at all. Then only admins will see it.

How far in advance can I sign up?

    • You can sign up for any calendar event at any time; even days, weeks, or months in advance. The farther in advance the better to get updates and show your plans with others.

How will I know who else is signed up for an event?

    • Sign in to the website or app. Look at the event and tap on Registrants. You’ll see their names and you can tap on them to see speed, phone, email, and emergency contact.

Will I receive reminders of events?

    • Wild Apricot has the capability to send reminders. We can explore this more if it’s efficient. You can put reminders on your personal calendars like any other appointment or things you are doing. You can update your personal calendar after you register for an event using the website and app by tapping the ‘add to my calendar’ link.

How do I use our website and, or smart phone app to register and see current status?

Can we communicate with each other directly through our Wild Apricot website or app?

    • Wild Apricot doesn’t have that yet. We can turn on forums. Let us know if you’d like to get involved running that. We’ve tested them a little and they look good.
    • Admins have an app version that is easy for them to email registrants and update the calendar entries. So, registering in advance is useful.
    • The app and website feature a member directory and you can tap phone numbers to call to call or send messages.

I want to bring an eligible cycling friend. How does that work?

    • Eligible guests should sign up via the website in advance. It collects their information and meets the guest registration and waiver requirements. Waivers are a must.

    How can I help?

    • We have 190 members, and we welcome more volunteers and administrators across the board and will show you how.
    • We are seeking a Tuesday Thursday Wild Apricot admin to update those events the few times edits need to be made. If an event is cancelled due to weather or is rescheduled from one day to another, we need to update it and send the message to registrants. It’s pretty slick and is easy to do. Thanks for offering!
