This ride explores the southern portions of the Maryland Blue Ridge Mountains: Catoctin and South Mountain. Pre-earn ascents for the ABC Mountain Climber award (which is not yet established...).

This route starts at Carroll Manor Elementary School and progresses to Point of Rocks and Brunswick along the Potomac before starting a gradual 870 foot climb (7 miles 2% average...not bad) to cross South Mountain through Crampton Gap. You then spend about 20 miles in the Catoctin Creek Valley and visit Middletown prior to climbing up 660 feet to Pine Rock on Catoctin (3% average for 3 miles...not too bad!).

The ride is expected to be 15-16 mph average. The route is here. and sells off Frederick County in ABC's Tour of MD.
