I saw this letter in a local listserv and it seems to be authentic. Please plan to avoid the section of Rutland Road that is immediately South of Rt 450.

    Project:  Q540301

    Dear Resident:

As part of an Anne Arundel County capital project, the Department of Public Works will have crews working in your area beginning the week of November 1 to reconstruct the existing culvert to a single-span pre-stress concrete bridge on Rutland Road near the intersection of Defense Highway. This work will also include a reconstruction of the stream bed to restore the historical yellow perch and white perch migration to the upper North River.

As presented at an earlier public meeting, it will be necessary to close this portion of the roadway and implement a detour. This effort will allow our contractors to complete this project in the safest and most timely manner possible. Portable Variable Message Signs (PVMS) will be in place to notify the residents of the traffic patterns and detours utilized during construction. Traffic will be detoured to Defense Highway (Rt. 450)West to South on Davidsonville Road and Northeast on Rossback Road. This detour will be in place through the duration of the project and crews will be on site Monday through Friday8 a.m. until 4 p.m. This project is expected to be completed by the Summer of 2018.
