Fire Fighter Upper 50 ride; ride leader will be Joe Urban.
We have not done the FF Upper 50 as a club ride in at least three years so I thought it would be a good time to run it again. It is essentially the upper 50 miles of the FireFighter Century, the most scenic part that takes you on a long 4.6 mile climb up to Blue Ridge Summit (elevation 1345 ft.) and through Monterey Pass. So of course, on the return there a few steep sections with some fast descents.
Should be at a moderate pace for the terrain, say 14 - 15 mph I'm guessing, and I would expect to regroup occasionally given some of the climbs, but this is not a no drop ride. Also, it's an unsupported ride, so keep that in mind. If you are reading this around the time of posting to the ABC website, in March, you'll have some time to get your legs in shape for the climbs.
Please send me an email if you plan on riding, should be a fun ride: firstname.lastname@example.org
Would like to start no later than 8:30, but since it's in June would go earlier if there's a consensus.
